Some unusual things you may see in the hearth kitchen

Before the stove became common, there were other "modern convenience" tools that made kitchen life tolerable.

Scotch Pot, or Porridge Pot

Round bottom, with either three legs or a ring-bottom (for a stove) the Scotch Pot allows even heating, and easy stirring capability, such as is needed for porridge. Excellent for deep-fat frying, because the heat surrounds the cooking surface evenly, but care must be taken to avoid spilling hot oil! Very rare items, valuable to both cook and collector. Note small ring handle on side for tipping.
